A Registered Nurse (R.N.) will visit you in the hospital after the birth of your baby to provide education about normal infant crying patterns, soothing techniques and to never shake a baby, as well as the importance of talking, reading, and singing to baby beginning in infancy to promote brain development.

Through Family Connects, a Registered Nurse (R.N.) will visit you in your home to see how you and your newborn baby are doing. They will bring diapers, weigh your baby, check your blood pressure, can assist with breastfeeding, and will connect you with other resources that you and your family need.

A HealthySteps Specialist is a person who works with a pediatrician to provide a team approach to a family's primary care needs. The Specialist meets with you and your child to improve the health and development of your child. They will talk to you and your family about feeding, behavior, sleep, development, and adapting to life with a young child.

Children First (NFP) provides support to first-time mothers and their families. A Registered Nurse (R.N.) will arrange a visit time and location (usually in the home) to meet with you on a regular basis until your baby is 2 years old. Your nurse will support you by providing regular assessments of you and your baby to include personal health, safety, strong parent child relationships, child development and learning, work/school/life goals, and connect you to resources in the community to achieve success in these areas.

Family Advocates provide ongoing personalized support during pregnancy and throughout your child’s early years. Family Advocates help with any immediate needs by connecting you to services and resources that are important to you and your family. The Family Liaison provides support for families with children birth through age eight. The Family Liaison can help to connect you with desired resources and services to support you and your family. To receive services, you can visit the Family Liaison at the Tulsa Public Schools Parent Resource Center and South Tulsa Community House.

Healthy Start gives pregnant women and new parents information, resources and support to ensure a healthy pregnancy and to help nurture your children and families. Healthy Start also offers a Fatherhood Program to assist new dads and to strengthen the father-child relationship. They can also help with transportation for medical appointments or job training opportunities.

If you are pregnant or have given birth and would like help with breastfeeding, our lactation consultant can answer breastfeeding questions over the phone or visit you and your baby in your home to help you with breastfeeding.

parentPRO connects parents and caregivers to free, voluntary parenting programs that take place in the comfort of your home. The parentPRO Community Connector will link you with a program that best fits your family. These programs are designed to help parents and caregivers raise smart, happy, healthy children and reduce the stress that comes along with being a parent by modeling skills, providing information, and connecting to resources.

WIC provides women, infants and children up to age 5 with nutritious foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and referrals for resources that will benefit the entire family. WIC can help with many basic needs, including infant formula, a breast pump for new moms, or provide nutritious food for your growing family.
